It was the perfect afternoon to try out our new snowshoes Steven gave us for Christmas. After several miles of not really knowing where we were going we came upon a small cave entrance in the mountain side. Kayle was a little bit more adventurous and ventured into the frozen cave. We had a great time skiing the mountain on Friday. We were excited to return to our "home away from home" in Steamboat Springs. During the week Kayle and I ski, snowshoe, or stroll through the town. On the weekends we look forward to our many visitiors.</span><br /><br /><div><span style="font-size:85%;color:#333333;"></span></div><div><span style="font-size:85%;color:#333333;">During the recent Martin Luther King holiday weekend, Steven and his collkege buddies, as well as Penni Harrison and her mother Sherri came to visit. Stefanie and Ed, as well as our two grandchildren, Jack and William, came from Wisconsin. (Ed is in his 3rd year of Medical School at University of Wisconsin) Steven and Kristina and her new husband Kyle came from Utah where they all attend BYU. </span><br /><div><span style="font-size:85%;color:#333333;"></span></div><div><span style="font-size:85%;color:#333333;">We started our celebration with a visit from Santa Claus who just so happened to stop by during a small gathering of family and friends. We also went biking between thunderstorms (a daily occurance) in Dickinson State Park (Jupiter, FL) and Markham Park (Weston, FL). We had a great time on the off-road trails complete with rails, bridges, and teeter-totters. Apparently they have to build the challenges here in South Florida since the largest hills are the landfills. The colors of the leaves were just starting to change so the trail ride was beautiful...and then it started to rain. The loose dirt quickly turned into slippery mud and all we could do was to just kept on peddling. It was a great way for Kristina and Steven to break in their new mountain bikes. A little mud never hurt anyone, right? Kayle and I were both so excited to see him again. We had so much fun touring the country together and listening to Steven communicate and interact with the people. We were very lucky to have him along considering we couldn't understand anything anyone was saying. Our Tagalog isn't the best. I tried but everyone just looked at me as if I had just landed on the planet. After spending time in the Philippines it was easy to understand why Steven loved the country and it's people. While Stefanie and Ed were in Alaska, we were able to babysit Jack. I could tell Stefanie was a little nervous about leaving her little boy for the first time because she kept telling me what I should and should not do. If I had any question as to his schedule or what he should eat all I had to do was open a cupboard. There were little notes taped everywhere. I just chuckled to myself and pretended to pay attention. The week was what Kayle and I would call EXCITING! It was so much fun to be with him from the time he woke up in the morning until we kissed him good night. While we were in Plymouth looking for the rock we ran into Grant's family (Becky's youngest brother). The rest of Becky's family braved the cold winds to walk the Freedom Trail...Burr! Afterwards we headed back to Rhode Island to be aquainted with some of Mark's (Becky's oldest brother) reptilian friends.
